## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

## APMEX Scraper — Gold, Silver & Coin Bullion Prices

Scrape live product data from [APMEX.com](https://www.apmex.com), one of the largest online precious-metals and coin retailers. Search any bullion or numismatic product and get clean, structured JSON: prices, metal, product type, weight, purity, **premium over spot**, volume pricing tiers, availability, and more.

### What you get

Per product:

| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| `title` | Product name |
| `metal` | Gold / Silver / Platinum / Palladium |
| `productType` | Coin / Bar / Round / Note |
| `productSeries` | Product line (e.g. American Eagles) |
| `weight` | Troy oz of metal content |
| `weightLabel` | Display weight (e.g. "1 oz", "10 grams") |
| `purity` | Fineness (e.g. .999, 24k) when available |
| `price` | Current selling price (USD) |
| `priceRange` | Bucketed price range |
| `premiumOverSpot` | Price minus melt value (live spot × weight) |
| `premiumPercent` | Premium as % over melt value |
| `spotPriceUsed` | Live spot price used for the premium calc |
| `grade`, `condition`, `mintYear`, `brand`, `countryRegion` | Numismatic attributes |
| `inStock`, `quantityOnHand` | Availability |
| `rating`, `numberOfReviews` | Reviews |
| `upc`, `ngcCertNumber`, `pcgsCertNumber` | Identifiers / grading certs |
| `iraApproved`, `specialOffers` | Merchandising flags |
| `image`, `url`, `productId` | Media & links |
| `volumePricing` | (optional) Quantity tiers × payment method (Check/Wire, Crypto, CC/PayPal) |

### Input

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["silver eagle", "gold bar"],
  "metal": "Silver",
  "productType": "Coin",
  "maxResults": 100,
  "minPrice": 0,
  "maxPrice": 500,
  "inStockOnly": true,
  "scrapeDetails": false
}
```

- **searchQueries** — one or more search terms. Empty defaults to `silver eagle`.
- **metal** — Any / Gold / Silver / Platinum / Palladium.
- **productType** — Any / Coin / Bar / Round / Note.
- **maxResults** — max products per query.
- **minPrice / maxPrice** — price filters (USD).
- **inStockOnly** — only currently in-stock products.
- **scrapeDetails** — also fetch each product page for quantity volume-pricing tiers (slower).

### Use cases

- Track bullion prices and premiums across dealers for arbitrage.
- Feed a precious-metals price index or alerting bot.
- Build coin-collecting / stacking tools with live pricing and premium-over-spot.
- Monitor product availability and volume discounts.

No proxy required — the actor works out of the box.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

Search terms to look up on APMEX (e.g. 'silver eagle', 'gold bar', 'morgan dollar', 'krugerrand'). Leave empty to use the default.

## `metal` (type: `string`):

Filter results by metal.

## `productType` (type: `string`):

Filter results by product type.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of products to scrape per query (each API page returns up to 60).

## `minPrice` (type: `number`):

Filter: only return products at or above this price (USD).

## `maxPrice` (type: `number`):

Filter: only return products at or below this price (USD).

## `inStockOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Only return products that are currently in stock.

## `scrapeDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Fetch each product's detail page to add quantity-based volume pricing tiers (Check/Wire, Crypto, CC/PayPal). Slower.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy settings. APMEX works without proxies (the open Unbxd search API passes Cloudflare directly).
