# Canceling a sponsorship
You can cancel your sponsorship.
**When you cancel a sponsorship, the change will become effective on your next billing date**. There are no refunds for payments for GitHub Sponsors.
## Canceling a sponsorship
1. In the upper-right corner of any page on GitHub, click your profile picture, then click ** Settings**.
2. In the "Access" section of the sidebar, click ** Billing and licensing**, then click **Additional billing details**.
3. Optionally, to manage your sponsorship on behalf of an organization, in the upper-left corner, select the **Switch to another account** dropdown menu, then click the organization.
4. Under "GitHub Sponsors", next to the sponsored account, click your current tier amount, then click **Cancel sponsorship**.
5. Review the alert about canceling your sponsorship, then click **OK**.
## Canceling a scheduled sponsorship
Organizations that pay for GitHub Sponsors by invoice can schedule the first payment for the next billing date. You can cancel the scheduled sponsorship before it becomes active.
1. In the upper-right corner of GitHub, click your profile picture, then click ** Organizations**.
2. Select an organization by clicking on it.
3. Under your organization name, click ** Settings**. If you cannot see the "Settings" tab, select the **** dropdown menu, then click **Settings**.
4. In the "Access" section of the sidebar, click ** Billing and licensing**.
5. Under "GitHub Sponsors", in the yellow banner with the start date, click **Undo**.
6. Review the alert about undoing the activation of the sponsorship, then click **OK**.
