💿 Search Discogs without copying pages by hand

Discogs is for record collectors, sellers, music researchers, and developers. Search public Discogs vinyl records, CDs, artists, labels, and master releases, or look up a known release. Get catalog details, cover links, community data, marketplace offers, and current asking prices without a Discogs login.

Use it to:

📦 Data you get

The Actor saves five row types: releases, artists, labels, master releases, and marketplace offers. Release rows can include IDs, artists, dates, labels, formats, covers, barcodes, matrix and runout values, tracklists, credits, community counts, and marketplace summaries. Marketplace rows can include asking price, media and sleeve condition, seller details, shipping origin, shipping cost, and an offer link.

A field may be missing when Discogs does not show it. When searches overlap, the first eligible match is saved. Later matches for the same Discogs resource are skipped.

🚀 Run the Actor

  1. Choose one Target.
  2. Add names or keywords, or add known release URLs or IDs.
  3. Add release filters if you chose Release search.
  4. Set a result limit, or leave it empty to get all available results until Discogs is exhausted.
  5. Run the Actor and open the dataset.

No Discogs API key, account, or login is needed.

"profile": "Trumpeter, bandleader, and composer\r\nBorn May 26, 1926 in Alton, Illinois, USA, died September 28, 1991 in Santa Monica, California, USA (aged 65)\r\n\r\nOne of the most important figures in jazz history, Davis adopted multiple musical directions in a five-decade career that kept him at the forefront of many major stylistic developments in jazz. His album \"[m=5460]\" (1959) is the highest selling jazz album ever with over five million copies sold.\r\n\r\nMiles settled in New York City to study at Juilliard School. He made his professional debut as a member of [a272028] from 1944 to 1948. In 1948, Davis began to found his own ensembles. At that time, he met [a255137], who contributed to [a497768]'s scores and arrangements. The dozen sides they recorded in 1949-50 were eventually assembled as the LP \"[m=62308]\" (1957), with Davis and Evans working together again from 1957 on further projects.\r\n\r\nMiles Davis was prominent in the creation of the 'Hard Bop' style in the mid-1950s (his first regular quintet featured [a97545]), and the \"time, no changes\" approach in his second quintet a decade later. In the late 1960s, he introduced electronic instruments and rock and funk rhythms in his music. Around 1975, he went on a hiatus over health and personal problems, re-emerging in 1980.\r\n\r\nHe married dancer/actress [a7671712] on December 12, 1959; the couple divorced in 1968. He then married singer [a1076460] in September 1968; they divorced in 1970. He then married actress [a6279083] on November 26, 1981; they divorced in 1989. Father of [a680784] and [a1493787]. Uncle of [a279708] (Jr).\r\n\r\nInducted into Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 (Performer).\r\n\r\nWinner of eight Grammy Awards:\r\n- Best Jazz Composition Of More Than Five Minutes Duration for Sketches Of Spain on [m=48172]\r\n- Best Jazz Performance - Large Group Or Soloist With Large Group for [m=8260]\r\n- Best Jazz Instrumental Performance, Soloist for [m=65130]\r\n- Best Jazz Instrumental Performance, Soloist for [m=63355]\r\n- Best Jazz Instrumental Performance, Big Band for [m=62288]\r\n- Best Jazz Instrumental Performance, Soloist (On A Jazz Recording) for [m=62288]\r\n- Best R&B Instrumental Performance for [m=62359]\r\n- Best Large Jazz Ensemble Performance for [m=188032]",

"profile": "Blue Note is a label that is mostly known for its releases in the jazz genre.\r\n\r\nLabel Code: LC 0133 / LC 00133\r\n\r\nFounded by [a=Alfred Lion] and [a=Max Margulis] in 1939, the label was soon joined by Lion's childhood friend [a=Francis Wolff] (who took photographs during rehearsals used on LP sleeves). The early years saw BN issue 78rpm sides featuring traditional jazz artists and small-group swing, but from 1947 the company began to record the emerging bop movement with sides from [a=Thelonious Monk] and, in the next few years, [a=Bud Powell] and [a=Fats Navarro]. From the 1950s, Blue Note recorded musicians such as the Hammond organist [a=Jimmy Smith] and artists in the hard-bop idiom such as [a=Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers]. Albums by long-time artists [a=Lee Morgan] (The Sidewinder) and [a=Horace Silver] (Song For My Father) made a significant impact in the 1960s. Meanwhile, the label recorded more exploratory albums by [a=Ornette Coleman] and [a=Cecil Taylor], among others\r\n\r\nLion sold the label to [l13531] in 1965 and retired in 1967. Wolff died in 1971. By now, more commercially-oriented music, including jazz-fusion, had started to be issued on the label, but in 1975, then-owners [l4898] launched a reissue program of Blue Note's back catalog which lasted until 1980. The previous year, Blue Note became a label of [l654].\r\n\r\nBeginning in 1982, Blue Note sessions began appearing in box-sets from [l100901] (co-owned by [a=Michael Cuscuna]). The label itself was relaunched as part of Capitol subsidiary [l85486] in 1985 and began making new recordings, re-releasing albums and previously unissued material from the Lion-Wolff era found by Cuscuna.\r\n\r\nIn 1989, [l85486] was discontinued and Blue Note became the division under which all of Capitol-EMI's jazz activities were organized (two years later, [l85486] was revived for smooth jazz and pop-jazz releases). \r\n\r\nA 2005 reorganization at both [l654] and parent company [l26126] put Blue Note along with sister labels [l85486], Angel, Virgin Classics and Metro Blue under the Blue Note Label Group umbrella covering jazz, classical and adult pop recordings.\r\n\r\nIn 2012, [a62920] succeeded [a1120514] as Blue Note's president, and the label's owner, [l26126], was purchased by the [l38404].\r\n\r\nPlease note, many Blue Note issues also carry an [l26126] logo. This is not a label and [l=EMI] should not be added as a label. Instead it indicates that Blue Note was part of the EMI Group.\r\n\r\nBlue Note® is a registered trademark of [l87317]",

❓ FAQ

Is this the official Discogs Actor?

No. This is an independent Actor that reads public Discogs data.

Can it grade a vinyl record or CD?

No. It returns the media and sleeve grades written by marketplace sellers. It does not check a physical item or give its own grade.

Can I get sold-price history?

No. It returns current offers and marketplace summaries. It does not rebuild sold-price history or track price changes over time.

Does the lowest asking price show a record's true value?

No. It is the current lowest asking price shown by Discogs when available. It is not a sale price, appraisal, or promise of value.

Can I use private collections or wantlists?

No. The Actor reads public catalog and marketplace data. It does not open or change private account data.

What happens when two searches find the same release?

The first eligible match is saved. A later match for that release is skipped.

Can one run search different resource types?

No. Choose one target for each run. You can give that target several values.

Does the Actor download covers, audio, or video?

No. It can return public image and media preview links when available, but it does not download those files.
