I click on search bars and then disappears completely in al browsers and incognito

ok if it’s literally every browser + incognito, then drop the “adblock ate it” theory — something else is going on.

first: are you even on the right search?

github has like 5 different “search” looking boxes and they don’t all behave the same:

1. global header search on https://github.com (the big top bar) — this is the one most people mean
2. command palette (/ or Ctrl/Cmd+K) — looks like search, but it’s a different UI that pops over the page. easy to think the “search bar disappeared” when palette closes / focus jumps
3. in-repo search / issue filters / projects filters — those inputs can collapse when you click away or when the page re-renders
4. not github.com — docs.github.com, gist.github.com, github.dev, enterprise *.ghe.com, or the mobile site all look different. if you’re on the wrong host, “search” won’t match what tutorials show

so check the URL in the address bar when it vanishes. if it’s not github.com/..., you’re not on the main app search.

if it really vanishes on click across clean browsers

that usually means the search component is mounting, then dying on focus (JS error), not CSS from an extension. try:

1. open https://github.com logged out on a phone (cellular, not wifi) — does header search work?
2. go straight to https://github.com/search and type there — skips the header widget entirely
3. press / on github.com — does command palette open? if palette works but header click “deletes” the bar, it’s specifically the header search control bugging out
4. open DevTools → Console before clicking search. if you get a red error the moment it disappears, screenshot that + the full URL
5. try a normal width desktop window (not ultra-narrow / split-screen) — sometimes the header search collapses into the mobile “magnifying glass” and it looks like it vanished

• exact URL when it happens (github.com homepage? a repo? issues tab?)
• desktop or mobile
• does https://github.com/search work?
• does / command palette work?
• screenshot with the address bar visible

if header search dies on focus on every clean browser but /search works, it’s a github UI bug on that page — file it at https://support.github.com/ with the screenshot. if /search also dies, tell us the console error. “all browsers” usually means wrong page, command palette confusion, or a JS crash — not random CSS.
