Allow to mute bots

I would like to be able to mute bots. Some bots are helpful but their automatic comments add noise to my notifications/emails and there seems to be no way to configure that.

+1. I love using Slack notifications from the GitHub app as a todo list. As we use more bots, these notifications are only getting noisier.

Specifically, it would be great if users could opt to have PR comments from specified bots/users hidden/minimized by default. The core team I am a part of have diverging opinions about how much automation they want to see by default. If it were possible to avoid email notifications the hidden comments, that would be even better.

My Github notifications are largely spam now due to not being able to filter for humans. The ability to filter by bot or even silencing specific users would make notifications useful again.

I'm working on a bot right now and I find it odd that this isn't a feature. A simple silent flag on the API for commenting would do the trick (for my use-case). Maybe a setting on the app installation page for install-wide silence could work, though it'd be great if app developers could choose which comments would issue notifications, instead of muting the whole application.

Why limit to bots, please consider adding mute user. Currently we have to block user if don't want to get notification from the user, but this does too many than mute and in my case is not an option.

filtering out the messages that don't actually add anything to the conversation, besides a "+1" or "me too!" would also be a very useful addition.

My kingdom for this. Apps/Bots doing their thing automatically are great. Them flooding our inboxes and obscuring actually important messages aren't.

Please let us mute notifications from dependabot/renovate/actions especially when it's BAU. Renovate opening a PR, actions commenting with reports and then it all automatically getting merged doesn't need 3-4 emails per occasion per dependency. And then when there's multiple outstanding PRs and a new update comes in, all the outstanding PRs send another 3-4 emails because the github actions just add reports as comments. Please help us sift through the noise! 🙏🏻

CodeRabbit is a great example of why this is needed, I don't mind reading the AI slop on the PR thread, but I don't want 3000 line emails which make notifications useless killing real human input

recommending it here because it exactly mutes bots from PR and comment notifications

The major request of this thread is to configure email notification system on the side of the project(s) s.t. automated emails from bots shall be distinguishable form thus coming from humans, s.t. simple email filter will split this kind emails.

Therefore it is nothing about browsers an plugins.

The current state is difficult to handle, because I do not know if 2am email comes from bot or human.

This problem is getting substantially worse now that everybody is vibecoding GitHub integrations onto everything. I can't even see my GitHub notifications in my email client anymore, because @chatgpt-codex-connector[bot] has to have the last word on everything. All I see in my inbox is a bunch of AI code review comments without even knowing the task or why I'm on the ticket (gmail conversation mode, so the first message which has critical context is buried)

Please Github, please let us mute bots.

been subscribed to this discussion for so long and we've finally found a solution suggested by someone above. pullnotifier sends only actionable notifications and you can hyper customize it to how your team works (muting bots, etc). it is unfortunately a third party tool but its soo good. sharing here in case someone here is tired of waiting for this ticket to be worked on.
